2023-2024 Parent Information Guide

Who are we?

Our pack consists of boys and girls from Kindergarten through 5th grade from Colvin Run and Spring Hill Elementary Schools, plus other public, private and home schooled kids. Dens are organized by grade level and, if large enough, by school. Currently, girls have a separate mixed-grade den for K-3rd grade, and a separate 5th grade den.

When do we meet?

We meet as a pack once a month, typically the 2nd or 3rd Monday of the month from 7-8pm at Andrew Chapel in Vienna, VA and then individual dens also meet typically once a month to work on their advancement requirements for that year. Activities vary by age but include hikes, field trips to fire stations, historic places, camp outs, etc. At the direction of den leaders, scouts may be expected to complete some requirements at home with their families (e.g., Youth Protection Training). If a scout misses a den meeting, they may also complete any missed adventures on their own with their family.

How do I register?

If you're haven't yet registered, below is the link to register. At registration, you will be required to pay dues to BSA ($85) and our district council ($80). You may optionally purchase a subscription to Scout Life magazine for $15. Our pack also charges annual dues in the fall. If you were part of the pack last year, you will receive instructions via email on how to renew. Registration link: https://my.bsa.us/082paa1144mb

How much are dues?

Dues have not yet been finalized for the 2024-2025 school year, but are expected to be between $275-300 all-in (BSA + Pack). BSA collects dues annually for all scouts. When you initially register you pay your annual BSA registration dues ($85 BSA + $80 local council dues + optional $15 Scout Life magazine subscription) directly to BSA. Pack dues are separately required for all new and returning scouts. Everyone will receive an email requesting dues payment mid-September or shortly after joining. Pack dues collected in the fall cover pack activities including pack meeting special guests (e.g., reptile guy), pinewood derby, blue and gold banquet, pins, patches, belt loops and den expenses. Pack dues may be pro-rated based on when a scout joins.

How do I transfer from another pack?

Are you part of a different pack but interested in transferring to Pack 1144? If so, you'll need to complete a youth transfer application. Please contact our registrar for more information at the Contact link.
